Bio Vanilla Beans of Madagascar is a cooperative initiative bringing together vanilla farmers, curing experts, and local communities from Northern Madagascar.
Our mission is to preserve the authentic heritage of Madagascar Bourbon vanilla while promoting sustainable farming practices and fairer opportunities for producers.
Based in Maroantsetra, in the heart of Madagascar's finest terroir, our network of producers offers high-quality, traceable vanilla directly from the source. Behind every vanilla bean are Malagasy families, farmers, and local communities who perpetuate a craftsmanship passed down through generations. With 37 years of experience and official legal standing, we guarantee our international partners total reliability and direct terroir expertise without intermediaries.
Our cooperative, Bio Vanilla Beans of Madagascar (BVBM), works hand-in-hand with local farmers to cure and export carefully selected Bourbon vanilla products from Madagascar.
A strategic range of Madagascar Vanilla planifolia, designed to meet the yield and quality requirements of industry professionals. Our catalog segments the Malagasy "black gold" into five distinct solutions, ranging from high-vanillin Gourmet beans to extracts and powders for industrial use.
THE BIRTH OF A PASSION
It all began in Maroantsetra. Driven by a passion for our terroir, we laid the foundation for BVBM. Our mission from day one: "To promote the excellence of Madagascar Bourbon vanilla by creating a direct and authentic link between the planters of Ambatosoa and the market.
TERRITORIAL ROOTS
A decisive step for our identity. By acquiring our first company-owned plantation in Maroantsetra, we sealed our unbreakable bond with the land of Ambatosoa. This transition from collector to direct producer allowed us to establish our own standards of excellence and guarantee, from the very source, vanilla grown with total respect for nature.
MASTERING THE TRANSFORMATION
We crossed a key milestone: in-house mastery of the preparation process. By opening our first drying and curing facility in Maroantsetra, we took total control over quality. This is where our unique expertise in manual bean processing begins, ensuring the intense fragrance and characteristic black appearance of BVBM vanilla.
QUALITY RECOGNITION
A new level was reached by consolidating the collection network and standardizing export processes. We established ourselves in the national market as a trusted supplier, capable of guaranteeing consistent volumes while preserving the artisanal quality that is our strength. This was the year our vision of a short supply chain—from planter to final client—attained its full meaning.
THE PRODUCERS' UNION
This year marked a historic turning point for our community: the year individual sparks ignited into a collective force.
Facing market challenges, the growers and farmers of the Ambatosoa region chose to unite, speaking with a single voice. By pooling our strengths and expertise within a cooperative structure, we created a model where every member rises with the group.
This solidarity-based alliance, which today brings together 100 partner households, allows us to eliminate intermediaries to guarantee true equity. Together, we do more than just secure exceptional harvests: we are building a sustainable future for our villages, driven by a shared commitment to lifting our entire community higher.
